ICE College and Career Days

Description

Chefs? Retail? Engineers? Sales? Educators/Coaches? Transportation experts? Cosmetology? Legal field? Medical Field? Fashion? Any profession will be so fun to learn about!Colleges to learn about- this could be a trade school, a prep program, a 2 year program, 4 year program, Master’s program and beyond! It’s so important that we start educating our students about all the interesting possibilities that lie ahead for them to work towards!

We are so excited to partner with you as we grow our ICE College/Career programming this year!  As our students continue to prepare for success in the global 21st century workplace, the community plays such an important role by inspiring the next generation with valuable advice, work ethic, and success stories. If you are interested in speaking to ICE students this year, please contact Meredith (Jones) Whitehouse, ICE assistant principal, at jonesml@lisd.net

Also, if you have a family member or know of a business or community organization that we can partner with, I would also love that information! Thank you!

In your email please include:

  • Your first and last name
  • Name of your ICE student(s)
  • Preferred email and phone number to contact you
  • Colleges attended and/or your current profession

Additional details to help: ICE College/Career Days will be held two times this year. The program will run in the morning for all of our learners. You will travel to individual classrooms to speak and interact with students for 10-15 minute sessions.

What should I bring/talk about?: Please come dressed in your favorite college shirt or the apparel that you wear for your career! Be ready to share what prepared you for college/current career (ex: subjects, teachers, goals, dreams, experiences prior to), fun college traditions, what degree you earned and/or a brief job description in kid friendly terms! Any visuals you can bring will help with student understanding. Students will also have prepared questions to ask.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns! Thanks so much for your continued partnership!
